British Society of Criminology Conference

The British Society of Criminology are holding a one day conference entitled 'Too Many Prisoners: Reducing and Managing the Prison Population'. Here are the details for those who may be interested in attending:

The Prison population in England and Wales has reached unprecedented levels and is forecast to increase further. Managing these increasing prison numbers presents one of the primary challenges facing the criminal justice process. This conference focuses on issues raised by the rising prison population and provides a forum for the discussion of a range of important issues relating to managing the growing population as well as highlighting some of the ways in which the prison population may be reduced. The conference draws together leading experts in the field including policy makers, prison governors, academics and representatives of reform organisations.

Who Should Attend:

The conference is aimed at all those with an interest in prisons and prisoners. It will be particularly useful for people working within prison establishments including prison and probation staff and volunteers as well as academics, people involved in voluntary sector organisations, members of penal reform organisations and the boarder criminal justice community.
