I am a London-based journalist and film-maker. I'm producing a short documentary to highlight and explore the long-term impacts of judicial punishment on the lives of young Londoners who were swept up in the August Riots of 2011.I am very keen to hear the perspectives of two to three young, first-time offenders who were prosecuted for riots-related offences, have served their time and are now attempting to fit back into society and move on with their lives.
I want to provide an opportunity for individuals to talk about the future they now face.I wish to get my message out among London-based groups working with young ex-offenders in the hope of attracting young people who might be interested to take part in this project. There is NO pressure to be interviewed at this stage - the filming would ideally take place in April / May 2012. At present, I'm just very eager to talk on or off-record to youngsters about the life challenges they now face in relation to the punishments they received for involvement in the disturbances.I look forward to any feedback or assistance Bridging the Gap may be able to offer..
